Pacific Medical Law Teaches at UBC

Monday, January 13, 2025

Pacific Medical Law directors and UBC adjunct professors, Susanne Raab and Lindsay McGivern are teaching the course in Medical Negligence Law (LAW 434) to upper year law students at UBC’s Peter A. Allard School of Law again this year. Pacific Medical Law is one of the very few law firms in Canada that practice exclusively in the field of plaintiff medical malpractice, and our experienced lawyers have been teaching this course since 2019.

LAW 434 is a practical course, the focus of which is on developing an understanding of the components of a medical malpractice action such as the doctor-patient relationship, consent, standard of care and causation.

In considering these topics, we explore practical issues that arise in medical malpractice actions including the nature and function of expert evidence, the use of documentation and difficulties of proof. We are excited to share our knowledge and experience with students, and hope to provide students with insight into this unique and specialized area of practice.
