Kate is currently pursuing her M.Sc. in International Human Rights Law at the University of Oxford on a part-time basis. She has published peer-reviewed articles and provided pro bono legal research for disability rights advocates, both internationally and within Canada. Kate is dedicated to providing her clients with a rights-based approach to medical malpractice and care planning that is premised on the principles that underpin the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, including respect for inherent dignity and human difference; autonomy and choice; active participation; and equality.
Kate volunteers on a weekly basis with organisations that serve children and adults with profound disabilities and complex care needs. In her spare time, Kate can be found traveling, running, hiking through Beautiful British Columbia with her fiancé, or cuddling up with her two cats and a good book.
