Linda Wong, a senior medical malpractice lawyer at Pacific Medical Law, only conducts medical negligence and wrongful death cases. During her almost 30 years as a trial lawyer she has chosen to only represent individuals instead of insurance companies and institutions. She was a founding lawyer of Nathan Smith Law, a well-known medical malpractice law firm that only advocated for injured people and their families.
Linda was co-counsel in the hard fought victory for a judgment and monies for Travis Strachan, who was severely brain damaged during his birth. As co-counsel at the trial and appeal of another hotly contested lawsuit for Benjamin Fullerton, she also obtained a judgment and monies for this boy who suffers from catastrophic brain damage that occurred during his birth. Linda was also co-counsel at lengthy but successful trial for Mr. Shawn Kahlon, an adult who suffered severe life altering injuries from a failure to diagnose and manage his treatable illness.
A firsthand knowledge of the schooling and funding challenges facing families who have a child with a disability is another distinguishing asset that Linda provides for the clients of Pacific Medical Law. As co-chair of a high level advocacy group she researched and produced urgently needed educational resource materials that were distributed to every BC school district. She organized Vancouver's first school-based group for families of special needs children. As the spokesperson for a group formed to preserve services and funding for schoolchildren across BC she appeared on television, radio, newspapers and before the Education Minister and other provincial officials.
Linda believes in fostering a greater understanding of medicine and the law within her community. She chaired the 2011 Medicine and the Law conference. As an invited speaker at the 2011 Trial Lawyers Association of BC Brain Injury Conference she spoke on the costs of future care in catastrophic brain injury cases. Linda developed and chaired a seminar on the Health Care Costs Recovery Act. She lectures for the Trial Lawyers Association of BC and the Law Society of BC's Continuing Legal Education programs, She has written for the Verdict, a magazine published by the Trial Lawyers Association of British Columbia and lectured for the Vancouver Hospital & Health Sciences Centre Lunch and Learn series.
